Great day for Rampage Football

Today I got a call From the Equipment Manger from the University of Virginia. The Wahoos!! He said things have been crazy this week and that he has not had a chance to call me. He invited me up next week to take a tour of their Football Operations center and he would be able to donate skilled position shoulder pads and some other equipment. This is a HUGE savings for the Roanoke Rampage football Program.

We now have 2 division 1 Colleges helping us and 2 division 2a Colleges helping us get onto the field!

Also today I got an Email from Ron Myers from WGMN/1240AM  home for ESPN Radio. He is Broadcasting the State championship game at lane stadium this Saturday and wants to talk about Roanoke Rampage football during some brakes in the game. We hope to Negotiate  the Possibility of putting Roanoke Rampage Home Football games on the Radio for all on duty firefighters and police officers can listen to the game. This is a long shot due to selling the add space  But, Anything is possible?

The Roanoke Rampage Football players should be very proud of our progress thus far,We have a long ways to go but things are going very well. Keep up the good work, keep coming to practice and bring in some more sponsors and then we can leave it all on the field.

Sweating in the cold!!!

The Roanoke Rampage Hit the field last night for the first time.With the Roanoke valley in the low 30′s and a heavy frost on the ground, The Roanoke Rampage Fire and Police football team had 30 players hit the field. It was a good practice. We have some work to do and we need to work on some basic mechanics of the game. Ill have to admit i had a good time last night, I seen a lot of sweat and laughing,Sometimes at others expense,But a lot of fun!

The Roanoke Rampage Football Roster is FULL,I hate to turn anyone down but we have 54 players and we just can not take on the expense to equip anymore players then we have

I have just less than half of the team dues in, If you have not paid your team dues,please have them into me by Monday please. I plan on ordering helmets next Tuesday.If their is a problem or you need some time just call me we can work it out.

*Practice Field.When you come to Practice you need to park in the School lot,Or the Parking lot on the other side of the tennis court,We are not supposed to park on the grass. Thanks.

Practice Thursday night a 6pm,If you need to pay your dues and need to get measured for your helmet be there a little early if you can.

Time to Hit the Field!!

The Roanoke Rampage Football team will hit the field for the first time on Monday night for our first official football practice. Many players have emailed or called me and are very excited to get the ball rolling. Not to put a damper on things but we as a team must work hard over the next 3 weeks to raise some money!! If every team member can bring in ONE $250.00 Sponsor we will do fine this season. Right now we are failing in the fund raising area.

 Remember: Just because we make it on the practice field does not mean we will make it on the game field!!!

 If you go and talk to a business about sponsorship, do not just leave the sponsorship packet with them, and wait for them to call you, Go back and follow up with them. Please educate them on our cause. Playing football for charity!!

 This is our first year in the league. This is the hardest year. Most teams in this league that fail, they fail their first year!!! The reason teams fail in their first year will be due to fund raising.

 Two things, if you have any fund raising ides let’s hear them? We are looking for a venue to put on our cash raffle. It needs to be a venue where we can host 400 people and be able to serve alcohol.

 Get out and raise some money!!!! And ill see ya on the Field!!!

Practice on monday!!!

I got everything finalized with the city of Roanoke today at 5 pm. We have the Lincoln Terrace football field. We will have practice at 6:00 pm Monday until 9:00 pm. I will be taking up team dues and getting helmet sizes. Does anyone have any connections with any high schools around the Roanoke valley where we can use 5 large blocking dummies, and 4 hand held blocking pads for a couple months? Rampage news. Good and Bad!

I have some bad News and some good News!!

 First the bad News: I should hear something from Roanoke City on the practice field tomorrow afternoon. Therefore, practice so far is not looking good for tomorrow night.

 Now the good news!

 Today I talked to a local business and I will have lunch with them next week, they are looking to help us with a championship sponsor ($2500.00)

 I emailed every college in Virginia last night that has a football team. To my surprise, I got two emails back already.

1. Bridgewater has 24 pairs of shoulder pads I can come down next week and pick up.
2. University of Richmond gave us 8 pairs of shoulder pads that I’ll have to go down and pick up sometime soon.  
3. All of our practice pants are in, and our football belts.

 I ordered our work out shorts and tee shirts with our logo on them; they are going to look good.

 Reminder: I will collect team dues all next week. I will need to get helmets ordered the following week!

 If you already own a football helmet and want to use that to save you money, I will need that helmet next week so that I can have it reconditioned and painted to our team colors! Thanks
